| How to calculate the total: To determine your actual electrical usage, subtract your previous reading from the current or most recent reading and multiply your answer by your meter multiplier. The meter multiplier is shown on the face plate of the meter and is also indicated on your monthly electric bill. |
| Example: | |
| 2nd day’s reading | 48275 kwh |
| Minus 1st day’s reading | - 48225 kwh |
| Times meter multiplier | * 50 |
| Times $.0657 (Rate/Kwh) | * .0657 |
| Equals total cost/day | = $ 3.29 |
Tillamook PUD uses two general types of meters, and the simplest to read is the digital meter, which has one row of numbers which changes with usage. If you subtract the number on the 15th of this month from the number on the 15th of last month, you will see how much electricity you used. Remember that those months with 31 days will have slightly higher usage.
The other meter has several dials which must be read from right to left. Some of the dials turn left, and some turn right. To "read" the usage, write down the number on each dial that the hand has just passed. Then, compare the totals as explained above.
