Green Power Program

worldTillamook PUD's customers can now choose to support renewable energy in Tillamook County, thanks to Tillamook PUD’s new green power pro-gram. By paying a small premium on your electric bill, you will help cover the additional cost of renewable power generation and support the development of new renewable energy resources.

Tillamook PUD buys the power from the methane generation plant located at the Port of Tillamook Bay. The project produces electricity and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). RECs, also called green tags, represent the environmental attributes of a “green” energy source, and are the assurance that the product you are buying is renewable or green energy.

When you sign up for Tillamook PUD’s green power program, your lights and appliances won’t know the difference, but you’ll know that the electricity you are buying protects our natural resources, supports our local economy, and helps continue the research and development of renewable energy resources in the Northwest.

The green power program is voluntary. The energy will be sold in 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) blocks, each at $2.00 per month. The cost is in addition to your regular monthly PUD bill.

For example, if you choose to purchase two (2) blocks, at $2 each, $4 would be added to your regular electric bill. And, you will be assured you’re helping to support clean renewable energy in Tillamook County.
